“I can’t say enough good things about this place. I took piano lessons here with Michael earlier this year and had an excellent experience. He’s a nice guy, and a Berklee-trained pianist. He taught me both how to sight-read sheet music and how to play on my own. He passed on several tricks to understand how to remember the notes and chords, and in the beginning he helped me acquire a keyboard-or rather a digital piano with weighted keys-to practice on at home. I have experience with other instruments, so I picked up the piano fairly quickly.
Senchant’s is an amazing place. I wish I had a shop like that in my town when I was growing up. Bernie (the owner) has such a great vision for teaching music that is so valuable for both kids and grown-ups and Canton as a whole. He teaches the individual kids, but also has a band program where he groups them up and shows them how to play songs together based off of lead sheets. Then he puts on concerts a couple times a year. You should see these kids play! He’s got kids writing their own stuff, and bands rocking out to Led Zeppelin and The White Stripes.
When my boys get older I’m going to proudly send them to Senchant’s. With music and band programs being cut from school curriculums, it feels great to have such a solid alternative right here in my own community.”

My planned 15 minute conversation about starting lessons turned into a 2 hour conversation about music. I knew how to play songs, but didn’t know how to play music. I have so much fun going to my lessons! Bernie teaches me all the “good” basic stuff, and it’s not BORING! Every week, he writes down what I need to practice and shows me how to play songs I like.

Bernie’s guitar lessons are very fun! He taught me how to play right away and figures out my favorite songs right when he hears them and makes them easy for me! I always get “Hello Kitty stickers!!”

I have tried to learn how to play the guitar many times over the years. It never really worked out. When my kids were out of the house, I decided to finally learn how to play and went looking for a school that welcomed adult students. Luckily I found Bernie and SAT. I have had many different guitar teachers. They were great, but I never clicked with them. Bernie is different. Bernie is passionate about the guitar, about his students and about his school. He wants you to succeed. He wants you to love and respect guitar playing as much as he does. And Bernie is not only a master guitar player, he is a master teacher. His joy in the guitar is infectious. His skills are incomparable. With Bernie, I have made more progress than ever before. He makes the complex simple. He makes the guitar accessible. Bernie is a flexible teacher and will develop individual lesson plans for his students. I feel I have direct input into my sessions with him.

Bottom line: if you want to learn how to play the guitar, take lessons from Bernie. He is Berklee trained, has played professionally, is the consummate professional and can draw on all this experience and make it accessible to his students.
