Lou Zanellato grew up in a vibrant musical family where a variety of musical styles were always present. His early interest in music began with the piano, giving him a strong foundation in musical understanding. But it was his father’s guitar that truly sparked his passion. At age 12, Lou received his first guitar and quickly developed a natural talent, nurtured through formal lessons and countless hours of practice.
By 15, Lou’s dedication to music led his grandparents—both piano instructors at Rhapsody in Easton—to encourage him to study classical guitar at the same school. His musical path eventually brought him to Berklee College of Music in 2000, where he immersed himself in ensembles and studied music theory, composition, and guitar with great enthusiasm.
Following his studies, Lou returned to Rhapsody to teach guitar alongside his aunt, piano teacher Ellen DuBois, for over a decade. During that time, he also performed in numerous bands across New England, playing genres including blues, rock, metal, progressive, jazz, funk, and folk. He gained experience in performance, recording, songwriting, and teaching, becoming a well-rounded and passionate music educator.
After Rhapsody closed, Lou continued to develop his skills through ongoing practice, performance, and study. With over 10 years of teaching experience, he brings that same dedication to his students today. Lou teaches beginner to advanced students of all ages—both children and adults—with a focus on building solid technique, musicality, and confidence. He also plays and studies bass, bringing additional depth to his teaching.
Lou’s approach combines technical knowledge with a genuine love for music, making his lessons engaging, encouraging, and personalized for each student’s goals.
